Tours on Zanzibar Island

Tours of Jozani Forest:
   See the Rare Colobus Monkey

Safari Blue Adventure:  Swimming & Snorkeling

   Swim with the Dolphins

Baraka Aquarium :    Swim with the Sea Turtles

The island's only national park, Jozani Forest is famed for its population of rare red colobus monkeys. Visitors can embark on guided walks through the forest trails, learning about the diverse flora and fauna, and explore the mangrove boardwalks

This full-day excursion explores the Menai Bay Conservation Area, offering opportunities to snorkel in vibrant coral reefs, swim in crystal-clear waters, and enjoy a sumptuous seafood barbecue on Kwale Island. The tour often includes sailing on traditional dhow boats and discovering secluded sandbanks.

Head to Kizimkazi village on Zanzibar's southern coast for a chance to spot the bottlenose and humpback dolphins. Early morning boat trips increase the likelihood of sightings, and with luck, you might even swim alongside these magnificent creatures.

Located in Nungwi, Baraka Aquarium is a natural lagoon home to rescued sea turtles. Visitors can learn about turtle conservation efforts, feed the turtles, and even swim with them in the clear waters of the lagoon.

Zanzibar is an archipelago off the coast of East Africa, part of Tanzania.  On its main island, Unguja, Zanzibar, there is a historic place called Stone Town, with Swahili and Islamic influences throughout its history.  On the northern part of the main island there are two small towns popular for vacations, Nungwi and Kendwa.  These two towns, on the northern part of the island, have wide beaches lined with hotels.  At night, once a month, check out the full moon party in Kendwa.

 Facts:

The Rainy Season in Tanzania:

March, April and May

  • It's home to over 4 million wild animals, including 364 species of mammals, 1108 species of birds, 130 amphibian, and over 275 reptile species.

2. The Great Wildebeest Migration:

  • Over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move in a circular pattern around the Serengeti, following seasonal rains during the Great Wildebeest Migration.

  • This is considered the largest mass movement of land animals on the planet.

3. The Big Five:

  • Tanzania is a great place to see the "Big Five" – lion, leopard, African elephant, black rhinoceros, and African buffalo.

4. Unique Wildlife Encounters:

  • Tree-climbing lions:

In certain areas like Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park, you can spot lions climbing trees to escape insects, stay cool, and gain a better vantage point.

  • Baobab Trees:

Tarangire National Park is famous for its baobab trees, which provide shelter and water for wildlife.

  • Ngorongoro Crater:

This natural wonder is a large, unbroken caldera formed by a collapsed volcano and is known for its high concentration of wildlife.

5. Biodiversity:

  • Tanzania is the most biodiverse country in Africa, with the continent's biggest mammal population, the second-largest number of bird species (around 1500), and 3/4 of East Africa's plant species.

  • The Checklist of Tanzanian Species lists a total of 14,336 species of protozoans, fungi, algae, plants, invertebrates and vertebrate animals.
